SCPA Choirs Win the Open Division of the 2012 World Choir Games

The SCPA Chorale and Meridan 8 have won the 2012 World Choir Games Open Division. The SCPA Chorale, directed by Ms. Laurie Wyant-Zenni, competed in the category of Youth Mixed Choirs in the Open Division. They received the top score of 22.21 points and were awarded a Gold Diploma. 24 choirs from Australia, China, Denmark, Namibia, Puerto Rico and the United States competed in this category. As winners of the Youth Mixed Choir Open Division, the SCPA Chorale received a certificate of qualification to compete in the Champions Category for all upcoming Interkultur competitions including the 2014 World Choir Games in Riga, Latvia. Congratulations to the SCPA Chorale !

Meridan 8 jazz choir from SCPA, directed by Rick Hand, competed in the category of Jazz in the Open Division. They received the top score of 20.54 points and were awarded a Gold Diploma. Choirs from New Zealand and the United States competed in this category. As winners of the Jazz Open Division, Meridian 8 received a certificate of qualification to compete in the Champions Category for all upcoming Interkultur jazz competitions including the 2014 World Choir Games in Riga, Latvia. Congratulations to the SCPA’s Meridian 8 !
